“People started running madly in all directions. Some were barefoot, others fell down, and on the hill in front of us, we saw more people fleeing. We were surrounded.”

Yonit Keidar survived the October 7 Hamas attack at the Nova Festival in Re’im, near the border with the Gaza Strip.

She got into her car and started driving through the fields, barely stopping. In doing so, she was able to save herself and her friends.

But during the attack on the Nova Festival, over 350 people were killed, and at least 40 were taken hostage by Hamas.

On October 11, dodging army checkpoints—since the area had been declared a military zone—the reporters managed to be among the first journalists to witness and report on the massacre.

“They kill children, they kill teenagers, they have no feelings, no conscience, not even a shred of mercy,” says a man they meet on site, spitting on the corpses of the attackers while looking for a friend’s car.

“Let the crows eat them down to the bone,” he says. Then, burning a Hamas headband, he adds: “This is their end.”

Words spoken with the weight of a prophecy.
