In the rural area of Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron in the occupied West Bank, there has been a significant increase in violence since October 7, 2023. Reports indicate a sharp rise in attacks by Israeli settlers on Palestinian shepherding communities, with growing support or coordination from the Israeli military.

According to human rights observers, settlers have been establishing unauthorized outposts at night, often using old vehicles and livestock to claim strategic hilltops. These are later connected by illegal roads, facilitating the expansion of settler presence and further displacement of Palestinians.

Between October 2023 and February 2024, approximately 20 Palestinian communities in the region were displaced, resulting in over 1,000 people losing their homes. Nine Palestinians were reportedly killed in settler-related violence during this period.
